About the Author
Alexis Rubin has a Master's Degree in American-Jewish History. Her thesis chronicled the work of the U.S. War Refugee Board's efforts in Holocaust rescue from the Balkans via Turkey. She has taught many aspects of Jewish history from Hebrew High School settings to Adult courses. Her syndicated column "The Month in Jewish History" appeared in many Jewish community newspapers throughout the United States. Her book Scattered Among the Nations: Documents Affecting Jewish History 49 to 1975 has been published in both hard and soft copy form and has been used in college courses as adjunct texts. Several of her Jewish history travel logs appeared in the Women's American ORT Reporter. Her essay on the "George Circle" was included in the Yale Companion to Jewish Writing and Thought in German Culture, 1096-1966. The American Jewish Archives Journal printed her article on Holocaust rescue entitled "The Schleiffer Children." After retirement, Ms. Rubin volunteered her time and knowledge to teach Jewish history to Women's Jewish groups.
During the COVID lock down Ms. Rubin returned to one of the main themes in her writing: The hows and whys of Antisemitism. The result is Why Antisemitism: A Personal Journey for Answers.
